Following the previous series, this is the final post introducing Lisle's "Great Goryeo Collection," showcased at the 2024 S/S Fashion Show. We will briefly introduce the Goryeo relics [mother-of-pearl inlay/celadon/ramie] that served as the inspiration for this collection and discuss how the openness, splendor, and delicacy of the artifacts from Goryeo, the original Hallyu (Korean Wave) nation, were expressed in the clothing.
<b>✅𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐒/𝐒 Great Goryeo Collection 'Ramie'</b> This is a modern Hanbok collection inspired by ramie, a symbol of the "people of white clothes" and considered the finest among the Three Kingdoms. Like Goryeo, which was at the center of international trade and sparked the original "Hallyu," this collection carries the message of sharing the beauty of traditional culture with the world and continuing to challenge the perception of Hanbok as a fashion genre.
📌𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐢 (𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐞)Since ancient times, our people, even among the Three Kingdoms, have demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship. The origin of the word "skill" is "sonssi (手工)", meaning skilled craftsmanship. Ramie, created solely with the body as a tool—mouth and hands—is the essence of our people's innate "sonssi." The straight weave, like a fairy's wings, reflects a meticulously divided process; the cleanly radiant ramie embodies the national spirit that has preserved a pure and clear mind. This collection features directly sourced Hansan ramie, highlighting ramie as a focal point for forging national unity beyond mere fabric.🙆♀️
<b>✅𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐒/𝐒 Great Goryeo Collection 'Dokhwarosado'</b> This modern Hanbok collection is inspired by "Dokhwarosado," the oldest pure painting and presumed to be a Goryeo-era ink painting.
📌𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐨𝐤𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨 (𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚)Dokhwarosado is presumed to be the oldest pure painting and the only surviving Goryeo-era ink painting in Korea. In addition to its historical value, the image of a solitary heron and peaceful village depicts the scholar's spirit of leisurely living. Yi Gyu-bo, a prominent Goryeo scholar, expressed his admiration for Dokhwarosado's artistry in his "Dongguk Isanggukjip (東國李相國集)," leaving behind his sentiment to share the beauty of the painting with the world through several poems. This collection aims to inspire pride in our ancestors by highlighting our people who led contemporary trade flows through their outstanding cultural arts and crafts. Protecting our traditional heritage is about remembering our roots.🙆♀️
📌𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑The garments will be available early next year, and if you follow Lisle's Kakao Channel, you will receive a notification when they are released. Lisle dreams of Hanbok becoming a fashion genre and is constantly challenging itself on the world stage. We have more exciting projects planned for the future, so we appreciate your continued support and interest!
